Rose Hall Great House and Scotchie’s Jerk Centre

Tour Rose Hall Great House, once home to the infamous ‘White Witch of Rose Hall’ and now owned by American millionaire John Rollins. Legend has it that the ‘White Witch’, Annie Palmer, murdered four husbands in addition to numerous slaves who worked on the plantation.

Scotchie’s, is a thatched-roof joint beside the coastal highway where food is served in aluminium foil and everyone eats with their fingers, but the jerk chicken, pork and fish are delicious! While jerk may have been invented in the mountainous northeast coast, the traditional pimento-wood grilled, lip-stinging spicy flavour reaches a sublime peak at Scotchie’s. It is now the meal of choice for many Jamaicans and a “must have” for most visitors to the island.
